I still have no idea what the main character is supposed to be. No nose… not long enough to be a beak, possibly a snout? Hmm… pasty white… a deformed zombie of some sort?
thank you shawn! when i found your webcomic from guest strip for VGcats, i instantly loved the clean humor. i was saddened to finish the archives only to find “Fork You” strips. i checked back every few weeks to see if you’d post anything, and i was so excited to see you were rebuilding the website and planned to restart Staccato. Now we have to get Ian J. to start RPGworld…
OH THANKS GOD, not trying to creep you out or anything, but I really do prefer your webcomic over… pretty much any other one since your drawing style is IMO flawless :3 by the way, if you can’t remember what you were doing before, I recommend reading all your comics over starting from 1 and going to the current one. that way you can refresh your memory about the plotlines and subtle relationships, like the one between stac and ella :3
I have seen you at cons before (>1 year ago,) and sort of came by the (old?) comic ~3 months ago by chance. I figured you were on hiatus when the same “New stuff for NY Comic Con!” was up for a few months…
but hey, even those of us who just recently read the “old” stuff can still look forward to the new, right? :)

Awsome, you’re back. I found this comic a few months ago, and when you failed to continue posting comics, I was like damn… They pulled a FOX “cancelling great shows”. But glad to see you back. Keep up the good work.

How are you going to handle the archives? The included archives page with ComicPress is pretty good, or if you want thumbnails you can use a category view. Just PLEASE don’t use those crappy calendars.
Shawn, I think it’s time for a completely new strip. No offence, but it was fine for a while, then it got tired. After that…. Remember the first couple years of the Simpson’s and then how it just slid down hill. It’s still decent but they should have called it a day a long time ago. They are only good compared to the other crap that is on primetime. Be strong Shawn…..kill them all off in a blaze of glory and start a fresh strip with NEW ideas.
ignore him. i think i speak for nearly everyone on this site when i say we want more Staccato strips! you said at Otakon that you were going to resume a M/W/F schedule, and i think nearly all of us would love to see that happen. Now that the cons are over no more excuses! ^^;
although i talked to Shawn at Otakon and he said he didn’t really realize that he started up Staccato right before Connecticon/Otakon. So hopefully we’ll see new strips if in the next few weeks.
i have seen penny arcade,penny racers,vg cats,ctrl alt delete comics, they all get longer and longer hiatus’s, more and more excuses, till it all ends….. i had a web comic once (”geckodude” which i had to shut down) this how it goes: all webcomic makers get jobs get a family and we can’t blame them. why should he have to take time out of his life and make another responsibility just to entertain us when he has a wife to be with, a kid to nourish and help grow up,and a job that puts food on the table and helps his family. even if we pay him and baby sit his kid, he wouldn’t do it, humor cant be forced out of him like juice from a lemon.

WHATINTHEHETERO is an old fan from back in the Inksandwich days (possibly earlier). He’s always talked like that and his style has been accepted by most other members at this point.

Seriously… It’s September… It’s been a month and a half… I don’t see what part of this comic is “back”. You were better off passing this off as an April Fools joke.
I have a “Probation” folder for comics that are good but show little promise of updating. To be fair, Shawn does run Halolz as well, not to mention going to every convention he can to make 73h m0n!3$, but the poor guy must be floundering to be unable to get another comic posted in the last two-and-a-half months. All that and a baby too…
It’s not such a surprise, i mean he has a kick-ass comic but now it’s done and he finds halolz more fun to manage.But still i can forgive the comic, but no blog for months,while updating halolz daily?That’s like abadoning us man.
Hey, the things I say are always intelligible Gecko. I know “complaining” won’t make him wanna work faster so why don’t we try patiently waiting? If you’ve actually been back here even after the 1.5+ year hiatus, you can certainly wait a few weeks for a new comic.
wow the coments complaining about da lack of comics are funnier than the stupid comic…personaly i find haloz funnier than a drunk raccoon and a hippo whos species was hard to tell,and why is that basket ball talking?

wow Shawn you can make a comic or update anytime now to prove us all wrong.most of us would be content with you making at least a 3 word long comment…. or at least realize playing dead doesn’t work when your updating haloz. and you can’t make an excuse that your sick or anything

what about the jokes you make on haloz? i know shawn isn’t looking at are comments even though i sent some to him on haloz ‘-’ ……….he has the concept, he has the time, (at least for halo >_<) he has the humor,he must have people to love his work or the comments list wouldn’t be this long.yet he digs up staccato just to pour cement in the coffin and ignore staccato fans. so fans out there,shawn, are building round coffins and tombstones for basketcase.
probably not because he would gotten angry at spruce because spruce just said (as far as i can decode) that every one who liked shawns comic that he has poured years of his live into, has been diagnosed with H.I.V. a deadly thing that leads to A.I.D. a sickness that kills your white cells. so spruce is basically saying schools should teach that webcomics kill thousands of people. spruce you have raised the bar,4 swears and 1 stretched out swear,all in one misspelled,punctuation less, sentence. bravo! I should tend to think that working on Halolz is significantly easier than coming up with original content… At least with Halolz he just has to separate the wheat from the chaff (though there is no doubt a LOT of chaff) rather than brainstorm new ideas.

This is stupid man. I found Staccato over a year ago, read the entire archive, and have wanted new comics ever since. Then, out of the blue, we get ONE comic and a new website. I have this place bookmarked and check it AT LEAST every other day with some other stuff I read. I nearly had a heart attack when I realized you weren’t dead. Now I’m just going to delete the bookmark and pretend that I never read the comic because you continue to sit and do nothing and jizz on your loyal fans. Piss off man.
To be on hiatus for that much and then to come back with one comic and make us wait three months (or even more)? I wouldn’t do that to my fans… I used to check this site daily and now I don’t. I haven’t been here since like two weeks. Shawn, if you’re out there, please…
Hey, maybe if we manage to hit 200 he’ll notice? all i have to say, my comic-writing amigo, is if you plan on abandoning Staccato, then change avatars on DeviantArt, or atleast tell us you’re quitting. I won’t even be mad, I just want you to either have enough pride in your work to admit its over, or abandon it completely and stop using it as your Avatar.
Hell, try this. Make the characters imitate your life a bit more.
This feels more like college, which you are probably not in anymore. Try to keep these guys around, but don’t feel like you have to fill every gap with a lame filler. Don’t “AfterM*A*S*H” us!!!!
Put the boys to work in the town there. Give them different houses (make a few room up together) and put a love interest in for the main character. Eventually you can make them marry, and have a baby-whatever-he-is.
Just don’t go on a Ctrl-Al….well, you know, or a Caught in the Blastwave sized hiatus!

I wasn’t directing it towards him, I was directing it to other people. Don’t want to get on the wrong foot, I’ve been with this comic since it came out and I love it… I was kind of being hopeful that fan art or whatever would make him more… interested…
Not only that, Stacc seemed to be a college looking comic. When yuo are no longer exposed to the same day-to-day stuff, you really do not have much inspration or motivation to continue.
He should move on, take his characters into the next phase. Make Raccoon guy an IT pleeb, and the main character into a low level guy working in an almost dilbert-like scene. Bird-man there could work on Wall Street or something. You don’t need to explain everything right up front, just bring these guys up to what they would be doing now and you (he) will have more to talk about!

firstly, i bet shawn has a real life, u know, a job, a relationship, taxes, and all the other stuff, so i bet hes trying to pass at real life, which is really important, rather than keeping a bunch of fans happy, which is a nice thing to do but shouldnt affect real life
also, when ur out of a pattern its real hard to get in the game again, i bet hes tried to do some but they just dont work right, or hes trying to think of a way to put a plot into it.
im waiting out for the comic as much as anyone, but i at least understand the dificulties and implications of it

i have seen penny arcade,penny racers,vg cats,ctrl alt delete comics, they all get longer and longer hiatus’s, more and more excuses, till it all ends….. i had a web comic once (”geckodude” which i had to shut down) this how it goes: all webcomic makers get jobs get a family and we can’t blame them. why should he have to take time out of his life and make another responsibility just to entertain us when he has a wife to be with, a kid to nourish and help grow up,and a job that puts food on the table and helps his family. even if we pay him and baby sit his kid, he wouldn’t do it, humor cant be forced out of him like juice from a lemon.

I have a “Probation” folder for comics that are good but show little promise of updating. I should tend to think that working on Halolz is significantly easier than coming up with original content… At least with Halolz he just has to separate the wheat from the chaff (though there is no doubt a LOT of chaff) rather than brainstorm new ideas.

This is stupid man. I found Staccato over a year ago, read the entire archive, and have wanted new comics ever since. Then, out of the blue, we get ONE comic and a new website. I have this place bookmarked and check it AT LEAST every other day with some other stuff I read. I nearly had a heart attack when I realized you weren’t dead. Now I’m just going to delete the bookmark and pretend that I never read the comic because you continue to sit and do nothing and jizz on your loyal fans. Piss off man.

Hell, try this. Make the characters imitate your life a bit more.
This feels more like college, which you are probably not in anymore. Try to keep these guys around, but don’t feel like you have to fill every gap with a lame filler. Don’t “AfterM*A*S*H” us!!!!
Put the boys to work in the town there. Give them different houses (make a few room up together) and put a love interest in for the main character. Eventually you can make them marry, and have a baby-whatever-he-is.
Just don’t go on a Ctrl-Al….well, you know, or a Caught in the Blastwave sized hiatus!

Not only that, Stacc seemed to be a college looking comic. When yuo are no longer exposed to the same day-to-day stuff, you really do not have much inspration or motivation to continue.
He should move on, take his characters into the next phase. Make Raccoon guy an IT pleeb, and the main character into a low level guy working in an almost dilbert-like scene. Bird-man there could work on Wall Street or something. You don’t need to explain everything right up front, just bring these guys up to what they would be doing now and you (he) will have more to talk about!

firstly, i bet shawn has a real life, u know, a job, a relationship, taxes, and all the other stuff, so i bet hes trying to pass at real life, which is really important, rather than keeping a bunch of fans happy, which is a nice thing to do but shouldnt affect real life
also, when ur out of a pattern its real hard to get in the game again, i bet hes tried to do some but they just dont work right, or hes trying to think of a way to put a plot into it.
im waiting out for the comic as much as anyone, but i at least understand the dificulties and implications of it
